Guide School and Training in Arkansas

In Arkansas, our research showed the below requirements to become a hunting guide or fishing guide.  Before operating as a guide ensure that you contact your states wildlife agency directly to verify all requirements.

*Always ensure that you and your clients have the necessary hunting and fishing licenses for the game you will be pursuing.

 Basic requirements for Fishing Guide Jobs in Arkansas:

  • Purchase resident guide license (GLF) $25 Required of a resident who guides, aids or assists another person for pay or other consideration in the taking of fish. This license does not include fishing privileges. http://www.agfc.com/licenses/Pages/LicensesFishingFees.aspx
  • Purchase non-resident fishing guide license (GNF) $150 Required of a nonresident who guides, aids or assists another person for pay or other consideration in the taking of fish. This license does not include fishing privileges.

Other Fishing Guide Requirements that May Be Helpful:

  • Driver’s License
  • Good communication skills
  • Well organized
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of clients
  • Willingness to teach others effective fishing techniques
  • Outdoor survival and first aid skills
  • Swimming skills
  • Good physical fitness

Basic requirements for Hunting Guide Jobs in Arkansas:

  • Purchase a resident hunting guide license which entitles a resident to guide, aid or assist another person, for pay or other consideration, in taking any species of wildlife on land which is NOT commission-owned or controlled, including WMAs, WDAs and WRAs. The GLH does not include hunting privileges. Expiration date is June 30.Purchase hunting guide license approx. $25 resident, $150 non-resident. http://www.agfc.com/licenses/Pages/LicensesHuntingFees.aspx.
  • Purchase a resident special hunting guide license which Entitles a resident to the same privileges as the GLH, plus the privilege to guide, aid or assist another person, for pay or other consideration, in taking any species of wildlife, except waterfowl, on all commission-owned or controlled WMAs, WDAs and WRAs. The GLS does not include hunting privileges. Proof of residency in the state of Arkansas for one year prior to the application date is required. Expiration date is June 30. $150
